Refund Policy - Tartan Talks

1. The short version

Refunds available up to 48 hours before the event start time. Inside that window we still want to help — get in touch and we'll do what we reasonably can.

2. Standard refunds

Bought a ticket and can't make it? You can request a refund up to 48 hours before the event start time. We'll refund the full ticket price to your original payment method.

Refunds are issued via Stripe and usually appear in your account within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

3. Inside the 48-hour window

Once we're inside the 48 hours before doors open we've usually committed numbers to the venue and confirmed the room. That said — life happens. Email us as soon as you know, and we'll consider refunds case-by-case for things like illness, family emergencies, or unavoidable travel disruption.

Where a refund isn't possible, we'll usually offer one of the following instead:

  • A transfer of your ticket to a future Tartan Talks event in the same city.
  • A free guest pass for someone else to come in your place (subject to capacity and a name change at the door).

4. Ticket transfers

You can transfer your ticket to someone else up to 24 hours before the event. Just email [email protected] with your ticket number and the new attendee's full name and email. We'll reissue the QR code so the right person can be checked in at the door.

5. If we cancel or change an event

If we cancel, you'll receive a full refund automatically — you don't need to ask.

If we change the date, time, or venue and the new arrangement doesn't work for you, you can request a full refund within 7 days of the change being announced.

6. Memberships

Annual membership subscriptions are non-refundable once activated, except as required by law. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time and your membership will run to the end of the current paid period.

7. No-shows

If you don't turn up on the night and didn't tell us, we won't be able to issue a refund — the room was held for you.

8. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] with:

  • Your ticket number (it's on your confirmation email).
  • The event date and city.
  • The name and email used at booking.
  • A short note on why you can't make it (so we know how to help).

We aim to respond within 2 working days.

9. Your statutory rights

This policy doesn't affect any rights you have under UK consumer law. Note that bookings for live, dated events are typically exempt from the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
